Library Desk Treasures

The library at the homestead houses a favorite piece of furniture, a tiger maple desk, given to me by my Mom. It was given to her by a dear neighbor, Mrs. Terry. There gathered are my most treasured photographs...

with pencils I brought back from Baker Steet, Doyle in his cowboy outfit, Mom and Dad, son, Doyle again at Christmas, and Krumpet in his
Sherlock Holmes' cap. His little hat placed gently on the frame..

and Dad, this was his detective work photo.

Yes, there seems to be a detective theme with Dad...

and our family last name is Doyle ( Sir Arthur Conan- related??) after all .

thanks for looking and visiting my homestead...

my Humpty Dumpty...

HUMPTY DUMPTY sat on a wall
and this HUMPTY DUMPTY was handmade by me. Every year at this time, right after Valentine's Day, I start to work on my Humpty Dumpty dolls. Well, maybe more of a toy~ decoration. I sew them up with muslin, stuff , paint and then draw directly on the fabric egg with permanent marker. .

I have made him (or her) to order for family and friends and is always my favorite baby gift to give (sometimes lighty hand painted with pink or blue).
I have had him copyrighted, as many projects are planned for his future (not scrambled eggs). This inspiration, this love of Humpty all started when my Mom quilted my twin brother and I each a Humpty Dumpty when we were born...

thanks,
Karen

Westminster Dog Show tonight

Hello,
To those of you that are reading this letter, I would like to apologize for the mess I made.

Maybe I did get a bit sloppy...
But, it was my debut on Westminster Dog Show tonight, and I had a lot of friends watching....

I hope you had a lovely VALENTINES' DAY. Remember it is on again tonight. Yes, Krumpet, the yorkie shown last night is not as cute as you!
Thank you,
~^-'~**

Love

I love to use handmade hearts for photographic backgrounds. Don't they look beautiful under the jewelry? I am celebrating Valentine's Day with love, jewelry, Paris and always pink...

LOVE
is full of glitter!
(photo from archives do not remember source)

Love for me, also, is almost anything French. Don't you love this bed? The screen behind the headboard looks like open hearts...

and this grand building I loved in Paris,
If ever
architecture could say love, this one does!

The grand archway relief detailed like the most beautiful of wedding cakes

the soft pinkish brick contrasted to the gentle patina of the limestone,

Happy Valentine's Day, and may it be

FILLED WITH LOVE!

my handmade hearts

It's a Handmade Valentine Party at the lovely French Cupboard
so I am
showing my handmade hearts...
I enjoy making them. They are very relaxing to create and I love that I am recycling old fabrics and buttons, all snug here together in a wood bowl in my kitchen...
hope you
LOVE
my handmade hearts as much as I enjoyed making them.

Paris Views

Can you see it, yes that tall thing?

Can you see it again? Right there above !
ummm..

Friends, I have to say how fortunate I am that have viewed
The Eiffel Tower in Paris
from below looking up
(pics from my Paris trip)

from the middle-
had this taken of me while going up the tower,
here almost midway...

and shot breathtaking views from

from the VERY TOP
of the Tower!

in all four directions...

I have even viewed it
lit up on a Saturday night from the balcony of my rented
PARIS APARTMENT!

but was I surprised when I saw it in
MY TEA CUP!

While sipping the last drop of my Earl Grey,
leisurely enjoying a pot of tea in the local cafe
I noticed
the tea leaves had formed the shape of the
Eiffel Tower
Can you see it?

Oh, good!
Merci

Red and White enamel sign

Thank you Ash Tree Cottage for your wonderful giveway !
I won Susan's blog giveway and I was able to select a sign from Ramsign
and this red and white enamel sign is what, after much deliberation,
I selected...

Thank you Bentley (above) and Susan...
Valentine's Day is wonderful, but I would be remiss, if in February...

I did not honor President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday!

It is especially important to my family as it is also my Dad’s Birthday.
Dad’s been gone from us for many years, miss him so.

Check out near my phone, the corner of a photo of Doyle
I had taken when he was young..
the red and white sign will be so perfect for my house as I love RED!

Red and white anything in fact!

longing for the warm summer flag days at the Homestead

and my new sign,
that I think I will hang on the granite pillar
attached to the red gate!
Don't you think it will be perfect?
